Maud The Rescue Cat Played Softball submitted by Sandy |
 |
 |
Maud was a rescue cat we adopted as a baby kitten. Her mom had her in an alley.
Our friends rescued her and 5 other kittens with their mother. Maud would listen to instructions
if you told her where to go and pointed to the location of the house as a kitten. From the beginning,
Maud was my shadow and watched every time I played softball in my yard with some local children.
We used a rubber ball and plastic bat you can buy from the Dollar Store, as the children were very
young, the average age 6 years old. One day, I said, “We do not have a third baseman,” and I
pointed to the base. Maud went over and sat there. We decided she wanted to play ball with us.
When the ball came into her area of third base, she would lay on the ball until someone removed
the ball. Then she would return to her third-base position. She became a regular player for us. One
day I heard a knock at the door. The young boy yelled,"Can Maud come out and play ball with us today?" |
