Mentor Q & A

My vet said my new kittens (strays) couldn't be tested for feline leukemia until they were 6 months old. Is this true?
Every once in a while my cat gets stung by a wasp. Is there anything I should do when this happens?
I have a stray cat that lives outside in my wood shed. I put a box with straw and old rugs inside. It gets well below zero here much of the winter. Will my stray survive that cold inside the shed?
When I leave for work in the morning and it is cold outside, I let a stray cat stay in the basement. However, it is pitch black. Will this affect the cat in a negative way? I leave food, water, litter box and a cat bed. She seems to utilize all the above.
What harm can come to my cat from her hunting expeditions? My cat Kakita is a rescue cat. She is 5 years old and I have had her for almost 9 months. She has started going outside and has started bring me presents. First it was a bird, then a chipmunk; today it was a rat. There is a lot of construction going on around our area and I believe that has them stirred up. She brought the rat to me 4 times. First my son intervened, then she came up the steps with it in her mouth, she dropped it and of course it was still breathing. The last time, this is gross, she bit the head off and ripped its insides out. You would know that the rat was pregnant and what was inside well...I'm sure you have the visual. My main concern is Kakita in danger of diseases? So far she has not been injured by what she has hunted.
