Mentor Q & A

My cat was chemically castrated a month ago and has not stopped spraying though spraying should stop after the second week after taking the injection. Why is that?
My cat, a 4-year-old female, somehow manages to urinate on the back of her covered litter box and sometimes the urine leaks out where the lid connects to the bottom. Do you know any way to prevent this?
Is my cat obsessive about covering her waste? My 2 year old cat's box is filled with scoopable litter which I clean every day - I also use litter box baking soda to help with the odors. Why does she continue to go back into her box, after she has covered up her waste, and continue to scratch?
My kitten - a Manx (we think - no tail) is using the litter box pretty well, however, whenever she comes out, she usually has feces in the hair around her anus. This is quite messy and stinky. Any tips?
We adopted a 3 year old male neutered cat from the humane society one year ago. He's been a wonderful addition to our family except for one problem. When he urinates in the litter box he doesn't squat down far enough and the urine ends up over the top. I tried a large plastic tub for a litter box, but the urine still ends up on the side of the tub. Next I tried a litter box with a cover. The urine ends up between the top and bottom pieces of the box. I've tried different depths of litter-doesn't help. Any ideas?
I've been reading about the cleaning of the litter box. Some experts say to avoid bleach sine it reacts with ammonia and gives off a toxic gas. Others say to use hot water with a few drops of ammonia yet some say cats find ammonia offensive and is toxic. Some experts say that a cat can be dissuaded from using the litter box if there are residual odors such a pine scent. I'm confused; please help. How do I wash the litter box so that it's safe for my cat and me?
I have a three-legged cat that I just adopted. He is a great cat, but understandably, has a difficult time covering his elimination in his litter box. What can I do to help eliminate some of the smell until I can get home to change his box? Also, he is tracking wet litter out if his box. Any ideas?
We have a neutered male (stray, and probably the runt of the litter, since he's "never grown much" although he is otherwise healthy) that sprays/marks every few minutes (well, perhaps every 15 minutes!) Yes, we have other cats, but this one marks even blades of grass that he passes -- does not really sniff or smell first, and that we find odd. We have a very good vet, and we have tried diazepam (some help, but not total), hormones (made him fat and lethargic, and we took him off those), even behavioral training. He is sweet and affectionate and a lap sitter -- but obviously very anxious, or, as our vet says, "wired wrong."
What can I do about my cats (one is 1 yr, 4 mos. old and the other is 7 mos. old) urinating on the dog’s bed? I have 2 indoor/outdoor dogs that have beanbags for beds. They use their littler box just fine. But, for some reason the cats will urinate on the dog's bed. No where else do they do this; no other furniture, just the dogs’? What can I do?
Recently my male cat started spraying and I have heard that you can get their scent gland removed. Is this true?
How is the litter to be disposed?
