What should I look for when selecting a kitten?

Recently, I changed careers and was hired as a cat care specialist at a local vet clinic. This position was made for me since I love cats and I have had several cats most of my 40 something years. Over the years, I have read many books about cats and studied the different behaviors of my own cats to help me understand them better. I have a lot more to learn!! My hope is to take this job further and help cat owners understand their pets’ behavior so the cats don't end up left at a shelter or worse. Is there a future in this endeavor? Do I need to go back to college for another degree or further college level study?
