They're all grown up—it's time to start treating, and feeding, them that way. Just because they're older, however, doesn't mean they're completely self-sufficient. Adult cats have nutritional needs particular to their life stage just as kittens and senior cats do, and they need your help to meet them. The CatChow.com Adult Care Center will clue you in on what you need to know.

Mentor Q & A

Are cats able to ingest human over the counter medicines, such as Nyquil or Tylenol, or are they toxic to them? Our cat has been sneezing and someone told me to give to him human medicine but I didn't think it would be a good idea. Is this plausible, or am I right?
My vet has put our cat on Ovaban. I would like to know what Ovaban is and why it has changed my cat. He is a 13-year-old tabby who before Ovaban, would not eat and had lost over half his weight in the past year. Numerous tests were done at great expense and 3 different DVMs could not find a problem. He just shunned his face at the food wet or dry and basically had to be forced to eat. Now, since Ovaban he eats great amounts, up to 6 times a day, with no encouragement.
Is the Advantage you buy over the counter as strong as the Advantage you get from the vet?
Can I give my cat Aleve?
