In some cases, an alternative to declawing can be simply trimming your cats nails. Like dogs, cats can have their nails trimmed on a regular basis. This can be done by using human nail trimmers. Ask your veterinarian how. If you opt to have an elective declaw done on your cat, it is ideally done at an early age before the claws are fully developed.
