They're all grown up—it's time to start treating, and feeding, them that way. Just because they're older, however, doesn't mean they're completely self-sufficient. Adult cats have nutritional needs particular to their life stage just as kittens and senior cats do, and they need your help to meet them. The CatChow.com Adult Care Center will clue you in on what you need to know.

Mentor Q & A

My 10 month old female kitten and 9 year old Tom have just been diagnosed with FIV. Is there a special cat food that would help bolster their immune system?
I have a one year old cat that is very healthy and up to date on everything. I would like to get a kitten from the local shelter I volunteer at. The only thing is that I have heard that when you test young kittens (this kitten I want is about 8-10 weeks old) for FIV/Leukemia the results are not always accurate. Is this true? The shelter I volunteer at does test them for this when young, but I have been to another shelter who said they don't test that young because it’s not accurate! Please help! I would really like another kitten, but don't won't to put my cat at home at risk for disease or sickness.
My cat was diagnosed with FIV about 6 months ago. My vet did not offer anything that I could do for her. She has been doing all right, but recently she has been vomiting more often. Is it possible that these two have anything to do with each other? What is the best thing that I can do for my cat to keep her healthy? She is 7 years old.
