They're all grown up—it's time to start treating, and feeding, them that way. Just because they're older, however, doesn't mean they're completely self-sufficient. Adult cats have nutritional needs particular to their life stage just as kittens and senior cats do, and they need your help to meet them. The CatChow.com Adult Care Center will clue you in on what you need to know.

Mentor Q & A

My cat seems to sleep all the time. Do you know if she is dreaming?
Is it okay for cats to sleep all day?
My daughter and I just got a kitten and would like to know how can we make sure he sleeps on his bed. We don't really even where to begin on making him comfortable. I have some bedding for him, but what do I do now? He just can't stay in one place for long.
Any tips on how to get our kitten to sleep through the night? He gets up every morning at 5:30 -- it wouldn't be so bad, but he wakes the baby, too, so everyone's up early. We live in a relatively small apartment, so we cannot shut him in a basement or anything. There are no doors to close, aside from the bedroom doors, but we hear him through the doors.
Have you ever heard of a cat with sleep apnea? I believe my cat has it.
Where do cats like to sleep?
We are a 2-cat household and my question is about the 8 month old kitten. He sleeps in the oddest positions. Sometimes he'll lay on his stomach with one front leg along side his body toward his hind end. We've seen him with one of his rear legs passing under his neck and extending beyond by a couple of inches. He's extremely limber and we were wondering if cats can be "double-jointed" as are some people.
My 4-5 year-old cat, Kitley, is a neutered male. Up until about 2 months ago, he always slept with me. Now, he only wants to sleep in my grown daughter's bed. Also whenever any of us are sick, he always will lie with the sick person all day. Why does he do these things?
