Poisonous House Plants

Mentor Q&A

My 5-1/2 month old kitten likes to sleep in high places, like on top of cabinets, etc. Is that normal?

How do I stop my kittens from destroying my Christmas tree?

Why are kittens so curious?

I am a first-time kitten owner. My kitten is four months old. I have been reluctant to turn on my gas fireplace since I am uncertain if my pet will instinctively stay away from it or not. I am also very careful when I open the oven door. He loves to get by the registers and lie in the sun, so I know he loves the warmth. Will he instinctively know to stay away from something hot?

How can I keep my cat from going outside?

My kitten loves to climb but how high should I let him climb before its too dangerous if he falls?

I'm taking my kitten home for the holiday to my parents' house. (I live in an apartment.) I know cats have a sense of height, but I'm worried that my kitten might fall through the rails at the top of the stairs to the floor below. Should I keep him on ground floor or put a board up against the top rails, or is his sense of height good enough?

I live in an apartment without central air. I have a 6-month-old kitten and the weather is getting very hot. Do you advise me to leave him in the air-conditioned bedroom all day, or should I purchase another window unit for the rest of the apartment. He is used to having free reign over it and it is not that large of a living space.
